Advertising Week, the world’s top annual gathering of marketing and communications professionals, is upon us again. Taking place at multiple venues across The Big Apple, Advertising Week’s mission is “to galvanize the industry by creating an entertaining, enlightening and engaging platform for disparate parts of the business.” With so many social media savvy folks involved, there has been plenty of online conversation surrounding the week-long event.
Let’s take a quick look at the social conversation surrounding advertising’s big week with a focus on the people and agencies getting the most mentions.
Altogether, between Midnight on October 1 and early morning on October 4, Advertising Week has generated over 23,100 total social media mentions.
Monday generated 8,399 posts with a peak at 4pm EST. Using Salesforce Marketing Cloud Insights to spot the most mentioned Twitter usernames for the day – and removing the obvious leader (@AdvertisingWeek) from the equation – we see Lauren Crampsie, CMO of Ogilvy & Mather North America, leading the way.
Tuesday saw a slight dip in volume with 7,134 posts with a peak time at 11am EST. Day two’s most mentioned user is Twitter’s own Joel Lunenfeld.
Other names getting day two traction include digital agency iCrossing, Mondelēz International’s B. Bonin Bough, the official handle of Sprint, Chris Hardwick of Nerdist, online retail giant Amazon, AOL’s “Digital Prophet” David Shing, Ad Week, hip hop artist Busta Rhymes who performed during the event, and Fast Company cracks the top ten for the second day in a row.
Another dip in total volume with 6,656 posts on October 3. Day Three’s top mentioned Twitter handles are led by the Twitter team with Adam Bain, President of Revenue for the social network, top of the heap.
Joel Lunenfeld is right behind Bain in second place followed by Grammy winning singer/songwriter Melanie Fiona. Other top names include Amazon and Fast Company again, Twitter itself, Tumblr, the Huffington Post, Socialistic Founder and CCO Colleen DeCourcy, and Global Head of Digital for PepsiCo, Shiv Singh.
Eliminating the obvious (#AWIX, #adweek, #advertisingweek), Insights offers us the top ten most frequently used hashtags in conjunction with Advertising Week chatter.
AOL’s #Brandco hashtag is tops followed by #mpomma.
Advertising Week Demographics
